Women Destiny Changers Initiative (WDCI) is a registered Women and Girls’ Rights Non-Governmental Community-Based Organization located in Kasese, Western Uganda. Established in 2023 by a dedicated group of women, WDCI was born out of a shared resolve to confront and address the pervasive Violence Against Women and Girls within our communities. Our primary mission is to mobilize communities to inspire and support grassroots interventions that prevent violence against women and girls and mitigate its harmful social and health consequences.
At WDCI, we believe that every individual deserves a life of dignity—a belief that fuels our commitment to protecting, promoting, and realizing the rights and freedoms of women and girls. We work to dismantle systemic gender inequalities, oppression, exploitation, and discrimination through innovative and holistic approaches that place women and girls at the heart of everything we do.
Our programs challenge practices that undermine equity, equality, and constitutional rights, while also promoting women and girls’ participation in decision-making processes. We are deeply committed to the philosophy of women and girl’s empowerment, advancing the principle of ‘Breaking the Silence on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).’ WDCI has successfully elevated VAWG from a private issue to a public concern, framing it as both a crime and a human rights violation.
WDCI makes significant strides in empowering women and girls to claim their rights, ensuring equitable access to services, resources, and opportunities. We facilitate greater access to justice for survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), and support Change Makers committed to eradicating all forms of VAWG and SRHR.
Our interventions deliberately address societal norms, attitudes, laws, policies, and practices that affect the safety and well-being of women and girls. Through the implementation of gender-progressive practices and the development of regulatory and institutional frameworks, WDCI fosters consistent engagement with various stakeholders—including the community, civil society, government, and the private sector—to prevent and respond to VAWG and to hold perpetrators accountable.
At WDCI, we are unwavering in our dedication to creating a world where women and girls can live free from violence and discrimination, empowered to reach their full potential.
